New Bluetooth RF Modules. Bluetooth, which is based on IEEE 802.15.1, was developed for the purpose of sending larger amounts of data quickly from computers to PDAs to cell phones or other portable handheld devices. Key features include high data rate, frequency hopping, very small form factor and modest power consumption. Panasonic offers a new Bluetooth RF module product line that makes connectivity between mobile devices such as cellular phones and small button cell battery powered devices like fitness sensors, watches, healthcare, entertainment and mobile accessories easily implemented, creating a seamless data chain from sensors to the Web.
Reduced Design Cycle. Get your wireless products to market faster by greatly reducing the design-to-production path. RF hardware design, development, debugging and test, board layout, quality testing and certifications are all removed by choosing a Panasonic RF module.
Extended Product Life Cycle. RF modules provide a constant footprint and pin out over several generations of integrated circuits to guard against the need to re-spin or redesign a wireless product to accommodate an IC that is no longer available. Bluetooth Classic, formerly known as Bluetooth and Bluetooth EDR, is a networking standard designed to meet IEEE 802.15.1 and administered by the Bluetooth Special Interest Group (BT SIG). Conceived as a 2.4GHz wireless standard to replace wired headsets in 1999, Bluetooth has grown in both scope and capability. By far it is the most prolific wireless standard today adding over 1,000,000 nodes to the network every day, in cell phones, PC's, consumer and medical electronics applications and many more. Bluetooth Classic is best suited to high data rate – up to 3Mbits/sec – applications where the network size is under eight nodes. Larger networks can be formed with Scatternets. Connections are robust, even in noisy environments, by using 80 channels, each 1MHz wide, adaptive frequency hopping, and multiple modulation schemes. Range can be adjusted using hardware and software from under a meter to over two hundred meters. Panasonic offers four Series of Bluetooth devices with over 20 parts numbers, to address nearly every application.

Texas Instruments NEW CC2560A Bluetooth IC In An Easy-To-Use Module Format - Introducing the NEW PAN1325A/1315A Series Bluetooth RF Modules from Panasonic Electronic Components, now providing Texas Instruments’ NEW CC2560A controller in an easy-to-use RF Module format with Bluetooth, FCC, IC and CE certifications. A ROM update from Texas Instruments to the already popular CC2560 IC has allowed Panasonic to improve its top selling PAN1325/1315 Series. The NEW PAN1325A/1315A Series Modules has increased power and system efficiency resulting from reduced initialization script size, start-up time and decreased system memory requirements.
All of Panasonic’s Bluetooth RF Modules feature unique, tiny footprint technology and are designed to accommodate PCBs with pad pitch of 1.3mm with as little as two layers for easy implementation and manufacturing. With or without an embedded antenna, the NEW PAN1325A/1315A Series provides easily integrated Bluetooth connectivity into new and current designs by removing RF design and certification barriers from the application.
As the newest addition to Panasonic’s Host Controlled Interface (HCI) Bluetooth RF Module product line, the PAN1325A/1315A Series has all the features of the existing and proven PAN1325/1315 Series but with the added benefits of the improved efficiency.
An updated initialization script is required for modules based on the CC2560A. Compatibility of CC2560 and CC2560A based products is a function of Bluetooth stack firmware residing on the host processor.

The ANT protocol is perfectly suited for low data rate sensor network topologies in personal area networks (PANs) and practical wireless sensor networks (WSN’s). The PAN1327/1317 provides a building block for ANT+™ devices, allowing the creation of interoperable products through implementation of ANT+ device profiles.
ANT+ managed network software facilitates the collection, automatic transfer and tracking of sensor data for monitoring personal wellness information. ANT applications are most commonly found in sports and low power medical devices.

Integrating Bluetooth communication in to your final product has never been easier. The new PAN1455/1555 Bluetooth module series include on-board microcontrollers that optionally include multiple BT profiles, including SPP, HSP, HFP and HDP.
The new PAN1455/1555 Bluetooth module series are based upon Cambridge Silicon Radio's BlueCore6-ROM (BC06). The PAN1555 includes an integrated ceramic antenna while the PAN1455 is excellent for projects requiring an external antenna. These modules are compatible with the Bluetooth Specification - 2.0 + Enhanced Data Rate (EDR) up to 3Mbits/s. The products deliver greater simplicity of use, lower power consumption and enhanced security. PAN1455/1555 Bluetooth module series are 100% footprint compatible with their predecessors the PAN1450/1550, are backward compatible with older Bluetooth devices (back to version 1.1) and do not require qualification.

The NEW PAN1720 Series is a cost-effective, low-power, true system-on-chip (SoC) for Bluetooth Low Energy applications. The module includes an eight channel, twelve bit analog-to-digital converter, 19 GPIOs plus battery and temperature sensors. A single device for both Bluetooth Low Energy master or slave nodes. The PAN1720 Series combines an excellent RF transceiver with a high performance low power 8051 microcontroller, in-system programmable flash memory, 8-KB RAM, and many other powerful supporting features and peripherals.
The PAN1720 Series is an ideal choice for applications where battery life is a critical application requirement, using only 500 nA in sleep mode. Short transition times between operating modes – 3uS Wake-Up – and power efficient hardware further reduce current consumption.

This unique triple mode ETU – that’s ETU for “Easy-To-Use” – module plugs directly into Panasonic development kits, Texas Instruments MSP430 and Stellaris experimenter boards with the added benefit of header connectors that simplify prototype wiring and field trials.
The PAN1323ETU is the development environment for the PAN13xx family*. This family is based upon Texas Instrument’s CC256x integrated circuits and uses a host controlled interface (HCI), a cost effective and flexible means to implement a Bluetooth network. HCI reduces BOM cost by eliminating redundant processing capacity and giving designers the flexibility to work with a controller of their choosing, as the Bluetooth stack resides and executes on the application’s host processor.
