Rochester's M80C186 is a CHMOS high-integration microprocessor that includes a DRAM refresh control unit, power-save mode, and a direct numeric interface. The device offers a compatible mode that is 100% pin-for-pin and software-compatible with the NMOS M80186 and enhanced mode enabling the full feature-set of the M80C186 to be used. The M80C186 is upward compatible with M8086 and M8088 software.
The device features a clock generator, DMA channels, programmable 16-bit channels, a DRAM refresh controller a wait state controller and a local bus controller.
