EPC91118 Three-Phase Inverter for Humanoid Robot Joints
EPC inverters feature an in-joint form factor for elbow, knee, ankle, and wrist integration
The EPC91118 from EPC is a compact, high-efficiency three-phase BLDC inverter designed to fit inside humanoid robot joints. Built around the EPC23104 monolithic GaN ePower stage IC (100 V, 8.7 mΩ typical), the board integrates power stage, sensing, control, and comms to accelerate motion-system prototyping where every millimeter and gram counts.
- In-joint form factor: 32 mm diameter inverter area (55 mm outer frame for mounting) for knee/ankle/wrist integration
- GaN power stage: Three EPC23104 ICs form a low-loss three-phase bridge; fast switching enables slimmer magnetics and an all-MLCC DC link
- Robust electrical envelope: 15 V to 55 V input; up to 10 ARMs continuous and 15 ARMs pulsed per phase (typical test conditions)
- High-band width control: 100 kHz PWM, 50 ns deadtime; integrated current/voltage sensing for precise FOC implementations
- Robotic arms and joints (elbow/knee/ankle/wrist)
- Small UAV propulsion
- Service/industrial robotics
