There are several performance metrics that are used to describe the thermal performance of a TIM. They are thermal conductivity, thermal resistance, and thermal impedance. The Bergquist Company utilizes ASTM 5470 standards to compare these key thermal characteristics. Different TIMs vendors might use different methods/standards of testing. It is always highly recommended for the users to test in the actual application to remove variables that are not taken into account with different standards.
