Tantalum capacitors' construction and material are stronger than the ceramic capacitor construction. Due to better material used to manufacture tantalum capacitors, they can withstand much higher bending pressures than that of ceramic capacitors. Bending pressure can accrue during mounting of the components, board assembly, and package handling, and it can lead to device failure.
