In the Automobile industry Hall based magnetic position sensors can be grouped in embedded or remote applications: in the former the external unit (microcontroller), power management and drivers are all on the same board close to the actuator, while in the latter group the board next to the actuator just consists of the sensor and few external components and is connected with the control unit through long cables. Typically sensors used in remote applications are equipped with high voltage protection. The AS5X61 and AS5X62 product family refers only to the remote applications.
