No extra soldering steps are required on a PCB populated with surface mount components. With intrusive reflow soldering, solder paste can be screened over the annular rings where receptacles will be placed while screen pasting the rest of the board for the surface mount components. With plated through holes that are .005” larger than the body diameter of the receptacles, enough clearance is created to ensure the receptacles will seat properly on the board.
