In an operating environment, a light sensor must be able to detect many different sources of light. It is important that a light sensor be able to provide the same output regardless of the light sources. The right graph here shows the competitors light sensor that provides an output that is different depending on the light source. As a result, the LED’s could be turned on when they are not needed and lower battery life. The left graphs shows that Rohm’s BH1700 family output is very stable regardless of the light source.
