For a large screen, (more than six inches) it is generally recommended that capacitors be added to the X and Y outputs to reduce high frequency noise. However, this can introduce some latency. ST's controllers have a programmable settling time, to compensate for up to one nanoFarad in capacitance. This allows a reading of the output voltage to be taken after it has stabilized. Another feature of these devices is the built-in ESD protection of up to six kiloVolts.
