In motor protection circuits, a leaded POSISTOR® is well-suited for locked-rotor protection, and is easily installed in series with the motor. The resistance of a motor drops when its rotor becomes locked and current increases rapidly. In response to this increased current, the POSISTOR® increases its resistance quickly and limits the “over current” event. After the motor starts again, the POSISTOR® will automatically recover and return to its original resistance.
