Shown here is a screen shot of ADI’s amplifier parametric evaluation tool. In this example, the AD711 is used to model the effects of slew rate with a 4MHz input waveform. With a gain of 2, the output cannot keep up and the waveform is distorted. This tool is available on ADI’s website and is almost as accurate as a SPICE model. Notice that an error is flagged in orange to warn that this op amp is not suitable for this application. The tool is also capable of selecting an amplifier with the required performance characteristics for an application.
